I Cried Three Times Last Week

And here's why.  I love it when written words bring out emotions and touch my heart in such a way to bring tears.  I love the way fiction can do that through a story.  Sometimes the power of a story touches my life and changes me in ways nonfiction books never can.  Here's what we've been reading.

The Family Under the Bridge  The Family Under the Bridge

Kai and I just finished reading this aloud.  It's a story about a homeless man in France whose life is touched by three homeless children and their mother and how the children manage to get inside his heart to the point of changing his life in a profound way.

Nana Upstairs and Nana DownstairsNana Upstairs and Nana Downstairs

My husband read this one aloud to the boys and could hardly make it through it.  It is such a sweet story about a boy and his relationship with his two grandmothers.

The House of MirthThe House of Mirth

I love classics.  I've read almost everything by Edith Wharton.  I couldn't figure out where this one was going at first.  It was really hard to predict the ending, but once again it was beautifully tragic.  The main character, Lily, is finally able to see a deeper meaning in life and her discovery is so simple, yet profound, due to the depth of the story and character development.

Just wanted to share three great reads with you.  What have you been reading?
